Benediction for the Animals

We ate no flesh in Eden, but afterward,

when things got hard, we forgot

the peaceful kinship of that ancient kingdom.

As our teeth sank into their flesh

we had to deny them.  So we said

they had no souls, no reason, no thumbs,

no speech.  We were so different.  We made

a chain of things to protect us - fire , medicine,

our locking houses, many kinds of clothes.

And we renamed them - farm product, fur crop,

renewable resource.  Pray that we will see

their faces again in the mirror of creation,

the miracle of animals, their clear eyes

meaning more than profit to our own!

remember all of our sea-born creatures)

Oh, our friends in the Sea: Sometimes it is so painful to remember what our race has forgotten.

A dolphin once spoke to me, with her sonar, I guess. I still can feel her directions, and truly, it changed my life.

Blessings.

Oh Dear Heart Swallowtail...how very fortunate you are! Did you swim with the Dolphins? Or perchance see them on the ocean? I have always loved these elegant and playful creatures. They bring to us the medicine of breathing as they are the keepers of the sacred breath of life.

I am drawn to them as well, as the Mighty Whale Kingdom of whom I regulary communicate with. I do not live near the ocean but some years ago during a World Wide Meditation for Peace I was drawn to call them in to me...it was one of the most divinely, mysterious moments of my journey here on Earth. Since that time I still communicate with them...their song haunts my very soul and I know how they weep and mourn for their Brother and Sisters of the Sea as well as for humankind. These kind and gentle giants bring us the history of Mother Earth herself and are believed to have come from the Dog Star, Sirius.

Thank You so much for sharing your heartsong with me today...

Many Blessings to You Dear One!
