Palm Sunday...
I won't be celebrating Palm Sunday
in the religious, traditional sense
today...but I am gazing at a woven
piece of Palm that was given to me
by a very Dear spiritual Sister of
mine, just this Yule past. Had I
digital camera capabilities to show
you, I certainly would. So instead,
today I will be thinking of Palm and
its place in our world today...when
I think of it, the first place my mind
wanders to is ancient history, when
personal attendants used it to shade
and cool those in High Court...Kings
and Queens, Princes and Princesses.
It was very valuable for so many
things.
Then my mind wanders to the days of
Jesus and his entry into Jerusalem.
We've all seen the images of Jesus
riding on the donkey being greeted
with the Palm in victory and triumph.
It was a highly prized unit of energy
for that time period.
What does it mean today? When I
think of it now, I see in my mind
the lazy oceanside, where Palm
trees grow, a bottle of Corona
placed strategically on a little table
beside the obligatory beach chair,
and the whole premise of relaxation
permeating the air. I also recognize
the uses we have in our society for it.
Furniture, medicine, oils, jewelry, and
on and on the list goes.
But I digress...I do not celebrate a
religious Palm Sunday and don't
think that I ever have since I am an
Earth Lover and Spiritualist at heart,
even though I raised myself in the
church...I broke away from it when
my questions could not be answered
adequately in my spirit.
So today...I am going to grab onto
the relaxation theme of Palm,
without the Corona, although a
lovely beer now and then sounds
good, (I don't indulge due to
medicines I take,) and enjoy this
beautiful Spring Sunday...the Sun
is shining gloriously out there,
the winds are light, the birds are
happy in their singing and their
flying antics, and Oh! I'd love to
be able to do that! So I shall
put on my imagination hat and
do just that!
Wishing You All a wise and
relaxing Palm Sunday however
you celebrate its coming and
its going....and later don't
forget to send off your Heartsong
to Grandmother Moon who has
been sooo active in our
Dreamtimes this week...
Peace!

I like your version of Palm Sunday better than any religious one. But can I have a chilled glass of something bubbly under my palm please!
Your wish is my command Sister! Ha Ha Ha...now what type of bubbly do you prefer?
I love a good Corona with the obligatory lime! MMMMM...Good!
Or a good old Blue Moon beah!
Beyond any religious significance of Palm Sunday, I think it teaches the importance of continuing to be your true self in spite of what anyone else wants to say you are. Jesus was hailed as a king on his triumphant entry into Jerusalem -- a title he never claimed for himself. Only a week later, he was called a liar and a fraud. Through it all, he remained faithful to who he was. I think, in both cases, that is called humility.
Pondering the palms with you.
My yes Dear Pam...one of the things I've never lost is my love for Jesus...he has been and always will be a Master in my eyes.
I loved your heart sharing!!!
