Subject: Oh crap (literally): USDA to privatize poultry inspection?
I mean are these guys for real? Our food chain is in serious trouble
now and they want to privatize this? Read on my friends...and if you
feel so inclined do sign the Petition...I thank you in advance!!!
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) currently inspects all chicken and turkey carcasses for things like bruises, bile and feces before they are sent to further processing. However, the UDSA is now considering a pilot program that would eliminate that inspection and allow private poultry processing plants to do whatever they want.
The USDA is holding a public commenting period on this proposed change right now. Please sign the petition opposing the privatization of poultry inspection before the public commenting period ends.
That's why I signed a petition to United State Department of Agriculture (USDA), which says:
"Please do not start a pilot program allowing poultry plants to conduct their own inspections of the bird carcasses used in food processing. This so called "modernization" merely allows private companies to make millions off of selling Americans food containing bile and feces. Going forward with this program would be an abandonment of the USDA's duty to the public."
I woke up this morning to a cloudy, overcast sky,
pregnant with life giving rains....said my morning
prayers, stood with arms stretched to the sky and
felt that lovely rain on my face and skin, feeling joyous,
and then came in to see what was in my inbox that
might need my attention.
What I came across just saddened me. I don't know
why I continue to be surprised at what this patriarchal
government does for us, but nevertheless I always
hold out hope, only to have those hopes dashed time
and again. For a long time now I have aligned myself
with saving our Alaskan Sacred Lands and Waters and
her inhabitants. I sign petition after petition to keep
these lands and waters free from big oil companies who
want to drill and make more of a mess on Mother Earth.
I've sent petitions to President Obama, the Oil Companies
and to Ken Salazar, and now it seems that is all going to
fly out the window. One of the first headlines I saw as
I was signing on this morning will lead you to read this.
I truly feel our government does not care if we kill our waters,
and all of the life that depends upon those waters...the Whales,
Polar Bears, The Indigenous Peoples who depend upon these
pristine waters and lands for survival, the government does not
care or this would not be on the table for approval! I am saying
this as a spiritual being! When do we begin to take the moral
high ground here and see that we are perpetrating our own
demise? It baffles me to the very core! And then I read a
stupid statement by Rep. Michelle Bachman that really sends
me over the top..."Some suggestions are that perhaps we would
see an enhancement of wildlife expansion because of the warmth
of the pipeline...The [existing Alaska pipeline] has now become
a meeting ground and 'coffee klatch' for the caribou." Source:

REALLY? You have got to be kidding me! What rolls around in
this woman's brain? As you can tell I am a little over the top
angst out? We cannot eat oil, we cannot clean up an oil spill
in the Alaskan Waters! We have not learned one damned thing
from the Oil Spill in the Gulf of Mexico! We continue to use
old outdated forms of energy that are killing us all and yet
President Obama signed the legislation that will allow Shell
and other subsidiaries the right to drill. My feet, my spirit
stand firm on this one. If all the cars in the world stopped
running today because we didn't have gas and oil to put in
them my heart would be running over with thanks and
gratefulness. It is time to put into action the solar, wind,
hydro power that is waiting to be used. Once again our
legislators, representatives in Congress and the House,
and the White House itself hold us back from being a whole
and healthy world. Other countries are doing it, why can't we?

this off my chest, another Sunday morning coming down, perhaps
I'll channel these energies into ways that will be beneficial,
instead of ranting and raving....but seriously how often do you
have to listen to me rant? I am glad I chose to speak though.
