Howdy Do!!!!

I realize I've been a bit absent
from my blog of late...been
hangin' out at my Tipi...

My Sister who had been living
in Kentucky is trying to relocate
here, so I've had the pleasure
of a guest in my home for a
little while.

And then Firekeeper had his 10th
Birthday on Monday of this week
so that was certainly cause for
celebration!  It is hard for me to
wrap my brain around the fact
that he is not my little guy any
longer...he's my little big guy!
All he wanted for his birthday
was chocolate chip pan cookies,
so I made him those and took
them to him, along with a card
and money...plus a recipe card
with the choco chip pan cookie
recipe written out on it and he
was waaaay excited about that!

Both of my grandchildren start
back to school this coming week.
So it will be new clothes and shoes,
backpacks, paper and pencils, and
all of the other myriad things they
now need to start school with.  I
find it hard to believe kids now
have to have so much 'stuff!'
Whatever happened to the day
of the big crayon bucket in the
middle of the art table or the one
box of crayons, one or two pencils,
and a pad of paper for the starting
of school and if you were really lucky
the money in an envelope for the
'Weekly Reader!'  I think our society
as a whole has broken down in that
regard and we need to get back to
the basic of just plain good teaching
without the frills...but that is a whole
other subject which I could wax-on,
wax-off about for hours! (And for the
record was talking about with my
Sister Penny just last night, lol.)

Anywho....It has just been a busy
time here with family and I am so
sorry I haven't had much time to
make it around to everyone's blog?
I do miss you!  I will make every
attempt to get better!

I leave you with these thoughts this
morning...It is a Hindu Prayer and one
that really touched me as I read it
early this morning...I hope it touches
you too!

Waters, you are the ones who bring us the life force.
Help us to find nourishment so that we may look upon great joy.
Let us share in the most delicious sap that you have, as if you were
  loving mothers.
Let us go straight to the house of the one for whom your waters
give us life and give us birth.
For our well-being let the goddesses be an aid to us, the waters be
for us to drink.  Let them cause well-being and health to flow
  over us.
Mistresses of all the things that are chosen, rulers over all peoples,
the waters are the ones I beg for a cure.
Soma has told me that within the waters are all cures and Agni
  who is salutary to all.
Waters, yield your cure as an armour for my body, so that I may
see the sun for a long time.
Waters, carry far away all of this that has gone bad in me, either
what I have done in malicious deceit or whatever lie I have
  sworn to.
I have sought the waters today; we have joined with their sap.  O
Agni full of moisture, come and flood me with splendour.

I remember the back to school frenzy when my daughter was young, but now I'm not part of it since I have no grand children and just hear about it on the radio... That silly commercial comes to mind whenever school starts again after the looooong summer vacation (I think it may have been Target, I don't remember) but the dad is all happy shopping and singing: "It's the most wonderful time of the year..." as he rides the shopping cart filling it with pencils and notebooks, while the kid watches on glaring at him....LOL - It think it's hilarious!

Have a wonderful rest of the summer!

With love,
Doris and Gizzy

Glad to see you. I always get a little worried when people disappear.

Do you really live in a teepee? I lived in log cabins before and I knew someone who lived in a YURT!!!

It is a busy time for a lot of bloggers lately!

I love your tipi, how wonderful to spend time there, and open your home to your sis... Good times... It's nice to take a break too and reflect, I know you're still there :) I too haven't been on as much, but I'm about to post tonight the 2 new paintings I did and a jacket with a buffalo patch... There have been so many blessed things happening... and I have prayed you are well... Thank you for your kind post the other day about breathing in peace with me... I appreciate that so much! and don't get me started about the educational system... My feathers have been ruffled to the extreme, I'm sure we have lots to talk about ;)
