Good Morning Sisters and Friends!
I know I haven't been around much but
I wanted to stop in this morning and let
everyone know what has been happening
on my corner of the globe.
About six-seven weeks ago if you recall
I had gotten some kind of bug...be it
sinusitis, bronchitis, whatever...and had
been working to get rid of it. Yeah, okay
so it was hanging on and hanging on but
I did not want to make two appointments
to see the Doctor as I knew I had two
coming up this month to get bloodwork,
urinalysis done and then this Friday to see
the Doctor and go from there. Done Deal!
In the meantime my stove/oven decided to
die on me and so my Landlord replaced it
but he had to order a new one so that took
some eight or nine days to arrive. No prob
there either...I could live without the oven
for some days even though I have been
trying valiantly to cook in a healthier way,
as my cholesteral levels are very high. I
had been baking and broiling lots of good
foods.
Then the oven arrives one day while I am
out and about running errands, seeing
another Doctor I go to and when I return
home I see that I have the new one
already hooked up but when I opened up
the door I thought I could smell gas?
The following day the Landlords
maintenance man (Tommy eye-candy :) )
arrived to fix some of the boards in my
ramp to the deck so I had him come
inside to check and see if he smelled gas.
He said he did too but when he checked
for a leak could not find anything. I left
him to it as I figured he knew what he
was doing?
All this time then I could still smell what
I thought was natural gas leaking but
kept telling myself there wasn't anything
going on...Tommy checked it.
So...in this heat wave we've had going on
here in the Midwest, I had closed up the
house and kept the A.C. running as I have
COPD and some days when the humidity is
high it is difficult for me to breathe as I am
on oxygen here at home. Several days
running I have been sitting in the house
getting sicker and sicker, with headache,
nausea, stomach hurting and just wanting
to sleep, sleep, sleep. Well, late yesterday
afternoon something kept nagging at me to
call the Power and Light company and ask
them if a gas leak in your home could make
you sick and the guy that answered the
phone said Oh Yes! So I told him my story
and he sent someone out right away, told
me to go outside and wait, which I did.
When the Power and Light guy arrived he
came on in and OH YES!!! Boy did I have
leaks coming from the new stove! Faulty
Appliance big time. He then showed me
where it was leaking...in about 4 different
places and proceeded to shut off the gas
valves. He then wrote up a form letter...
CAUTION NOTICE
Warning: Immediate Hazard Exists.
Equimpment Shut Off! Condition is
serious enough to require immediate
action. Your gas supply has been shut
off at the gas range and will not be
turned on until the condition described
has been corrected.
Am I alive? Am I lucky? Do I feel
better in the space of twelve or so
hours give or take a few? That would
be a resounding Yes! Yes! Yes!
And it is a Very Good Morning!

P.S. Almost forgot! I was going
to say I thought my oxygen levels
were going down and that was one
reason why I was not feeling well
but I was trying to hang on till this
Friday when I see the Doc...I can
be so dense sometimes! Wait till
she hears this one! Somebody
needs to shake me!
